Dear Faithful Friend,
I am happy to report that I am home and recovering well. First of all, let me thank all of you for the outpouring of love and concern and prayer that I received. It really encouraged me and supported me through this time. I underwent a much longer operation than expected as there turned out to be some complications in locating the exact problem. What was to have been a one to two hour surgery turned out to be a five hour procedure!
As you can imagine, the prolonged waiting and not knowing what was happening was somewhat difficult for Jackie. But God is gracious and attends to details. At the same time she and Evan, our son were waiting, another 5 people came in to wait as well. They turned out to be Christians who had been on a tour and one of the women had fallen and broken her hip. Her surgery was also very long and in fact we finished together! It was a great comfort to Jackie and Evan to have people there to talk to about the Lord and to pray with. The waiting room was filled with the Holy Spirit! The conversations were noted by another Israeli who was waiting and he witnessed their love, as they prayed for one another. We pray that he was touched and that a seed was planted!
Praise God that I did recuperate fast enough to be released from the hospital the next morning.
The procedure itself seems to have been successful with a post op blood test showing that the calcium level in my blood, which had been above the normal range preceding the surgery, had dropped to the lower end of normal. The surgeon did have some concerns about a different hormone, "PTH" which did not go down as expected. I will take another blood test next week and then go to see the surgeon on Thursday. Please stand with us in prayer that the hormone levels would all be in the normal range.
Again, your love and prayer support has blessed me "beyond" and continues to be a source of strength to me in my spirit even as I strengthen in the physical.
We will update you next week.
We send you our love from Zion, Eddie and Jackie
